The spread of the Corona virus (COVID-19) in China keep going crazy. One of the regions that is struggling with COVID-19 is Zhejiang province China.
Zhejiang province is battling around one million new cases of COVID-19 every day. The Zhejiang provincial government said the number was expected to double in the coming days.
Reuters reported on Sunday (12/25) Zhejiang is a large industrial province near Shanghai. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention China (CDC) said that despite a record spike in cases nationwide, China has reported no COVID-19 deaths for 5 days as of Saturday.
Zhejiang is one of the few regions forecasting a spike in new cases, including asymptomatic cases.
Zhejiang Province with a population of 65.4 million, that among 13,583 infected cases treated in provincial hospitals, one patient had severe symptoms due to COVID-19, while 242 severe and critical condition infected cases were caused by diseases in comorbidity.
“The peak of infections is expected to come earlier in Zhejiang and enter a period of rising around the New Year, during which the number of daily new infections will reach 2 million,” the Zhejiang government said in a statement.
Citizens and experts have called for more accurate data after Beijing made sweeping changes to its zero-COVID policy.
