The corona shock from Saturday has not yet been digested. The new all-time high in new infections is followed today by 8,554 positive results and 20 deaths.
The 4th wave is already writing shocking records. After a rapid increase in the middle of the week with new annual highs on Thursday (8,594 positive results) and Friday (9,388), the new infections soared to a new all-time high on Saturday! 9,943 new infections in one day; that had never happened in Austria since the beginning of the pandemic.
It continues today, Sunday, with extremely high numbers. As “Today”learned, there have been a total of 8,554 new infections and 20 deaths across Austria in the last 24 hours.
Again there is a huge jump to the previous week. On Sunday, October 31, the authorities reported “only” 5,684 new infections across Austria. Since the Halloween celebrations, the situation has escalated completely.
365 intensive care patients with corona
As of today (November 7, 9:30 a.m.), 11,502 people across Austria have died as a result of the coronavirus and 799,839 have recovered. So far there have been 883,887 positive test results in Austria.
There are currently 1,903 people in hospital treatment due to the corona virus (+38). 365 (+6) of these are cared for in intensive care units

No more corona loosening this year
The government has already reacted and imposed a strict 2G rule including leisure lockdown for unvaccinated people from Monday. Measures that will be with us for a long time to come.
