SPD leader Norbert Walter-Borjans has accused Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) of serious negligence in dealing with the corona pandemic.
The “full-bodied self-marketing” of the minister could not hide the fact that test capacities were missing in many places, said Walter-Borjans of the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” (Monday edition).
The SPD continued to wedge against the Union minister. Test results were so long in coming that those affected would become “at risk of infection against their will”.
Walter-Borjans also described it as a mistake that only returnees from Corona risk areas have to undergo a mandatory test, while other returnees are only invited to a test without obligation.

“Successful handling of the pandemic not only includes appearing in front of the camera, but also the small-scale implementation,” said the SPD chairman. “But that is clearly not a matter for the Federal Minister of Health.”
Walter-Borjans warned of another “economic lockdown” in Germany. This would push the country to the limit of resilience and possibly beyond, he said.
