Corona B117 Virus Appears, Recognize the Term Mutations, Variants, and Virus Strains

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – The world is still struggling in control Covid-19, the challenges even got harder after corona virus mutate.

Three Corona virus mutations are of global concern, including Indonesia.

First is the B117 mutation from England, then B1351 or 501Y.V2 is a new variant Covid-19 from Africa, as well as the P1 or 501Y.V3 are the new variants Covid-19 from Brazil.

The B117 variant is reported to be found in 70 countries.

Then the variant from Africa has been in more than 20 countries and the P1 variant which is called the Brazilian variant has been found in more than 30 countries.

Recently, we often hear the term mutation, variant, and virus strain, what do the three mean?

Viral mutations or new virus variants are common during a pandemic.

Mutation itself is a process due to an error during reproduction and the daughter virus is not the same as the parent virus (parental strain).
