Coppélia: Classic Ballet Performance by La Scala Ballet with Nicoletta Manni and Timofej Andrijashenko, Directed by Alexei Ratmansky – Watch on Rai 5

Performed for the first time in 1870 at the Paris Opéra to the splendid music of Léo Delibes, Coppélia ranks among the masterpieces of the great ballet repertoire. There have been many choreographic versions of this title, documented at La Scala since the end of the nineteenth century and the last production for the Scaliger Ballet dates back to 2009, which proposed it again for the opening of the new Season with the authoritative signature of Alexei Ratmansky. An appointment that Rai Cultura offers on Thursday 28 December at 9.15pm on Rai 5. The protagonists, together with the Scala Ballet, are the étoile Nicoletta Manni and Timofej Andrijashenko. With a brand new staging designed by Jérôme Kaplan, Ratmansky’s creative sensitivity enriches the Company’s repertoire with his vision of this historic Ballet. On the Orchestra podium, Paul Connelly.
