Copeco maintains green alert in 11 departments of Honduras

Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The Secretariat for National Risk and Contingency Management (Copeco) reported the decision to extend the green alert for 24 hours starting at 6:00 pm this Monday for 11 departments in Honduras due to the fact that the rains will continue.

Copeco reported that the departments under green alert are: Copán, La Paz, Intibucá, Francisco Morazán, El Paraíso, Choluteca, Santa Bárbara, Ocotepeque, Lempira Valle and Cortés.

Meanwhile, Copeco’s Center for Atmospheric, Oceanographic and Seismic Studies (Cenaos) reported that a surface trough will generate rains and showers with electrical activity, gusty winds and abundant cloudiness in most of the national territory.

Weather forecast models indicate that this Tuesday’s rains will register accumulated between 10 to 20 millimeters (mm), with maximums of 30 mm in northwestern Honduras.
