The coach of Peru spoke at a press conference in the run-up to the qualifying duel with Colombia and expressed his disagreement with the fact that the contest be played again on Brazilian soil.
The coach of Peru, Ricardo Gareca, expressed this Tuesday his Disagreement with the choice of Brazil as the emergency venue for the Copa América after Argentina and Colombia resigned from their organization.
“It doesn’t seem fair to me that a Copa América be repeated in Brazil”said El Tigre, who at a press conference recalled that the last edition of the tournament was already played in that same country in 2019, the year in which the Peruvian team was a finalist. According to what was expressed by the technician, he would have preferred that Conmebol evaluate other different options.
On the other hand, the coach of Peru indicated that they have not yet been officially informed that there is an obligation to be vaccinated to participate in the tournament, but he anticipated that he will analyze it if it is finally an indispensable requirement.
So far the Peruvian soccer players did not receive doses of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine supplied by Conmebol since this type of vaccine has not yet been approved by the national regulatory body.
Regarding the rumors that some footballers could give up playing the continental tournament, Gareca pointed out that they have also reached him “Like all kinds of comments, but there is nothing official or concrete.”
“Now we are focused on the Playoffs and I don’t want anything to divert us from that. I look at it very superficially. That doesn’t take me away from the Playoff dates.”, he stated.

The next matches of Peru by Qualifiers
Peru will resume this Thursday their participation in the South American Qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, upon receiving Colombia at the National Stadium in Lima, while five days later he will visit Ecuador at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium, in Quito.
La Blanquirroja is eager to win after having achieved just one point in the first four days, which makes it penultimate in the standings, with the same units as Bolivia.
