Convinced that Putin has lost, Polish president says Russia could be desperate to use chemical weapons

LONDON, KOMPAS.TVPolish President Andrzej Duda said Russia had the opportunity to use chemical weapons because it had not conquered Ukraine since February 24. Duda said Russian President Vladimir Putin could have acted recklessly because the situation was “very difficult.”

This was conveyed by Duda in the “Sunday Morning” program. BBCSunday (13/3/2022).

The 49-year-old politician claims Putin has lost the war in Ukraine. The reason, he never succeeded in seizing Kiev and facing a wave of anti-war protests in Russia.

“Actually, politically, he (Putin) has already lost this war, internally he has not won it either,” Duda said on the BBC programme. The Guardian.

Duda also suspects that this situation could cause Putin to be desperate to launch weapons of mass destruction. According to him, if it happened, it could be a “turning point” for NATO’s response.

“Of course the North Atlantic (NATO) alliance has to sit down and really think about what to do, because if that happened it would be dangerous, not only for Europe, our continent, but also the whole world,” Duda continued.

In Ukraine, the Russian offensive was stuck in a number of important cities and it was difficult to penetrate the center of Kiev.

Nevertheless, Russian troops are reportedly getting closer to Kiev with large numbers of troops.

Until almost three weeks of the invasion, Russia was still besieging important cities such as Kharkiv, Mariupol, and Chernihiv.
