Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Syndicate of Musical Professions in Egypt, on Tuesday, ended the controversy surrounding the American rapper Travis Scott’s concert, which was to be held in the pyramids in Egypt, and announced its cancellation, in response to demands and calls to ban it.

The Syndicate said in a statement: “The General Syndicate for Musical Professions, as the body entrusted with issuing licenses for holding musical and lyrical concerts in Egypt, in solidarity with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, represented by the Censorship Authority for Artistic Works and the Ministry of Manpower, stresses the need for security considerations and approvals from the authorities. The specialist is a top priority, with regard to holding concerts, in order to guarantee and protect the masses of the masses.

The syndicate’s statement added: “Undoubtedly, the general syndicate in recent months has welcomed all kinds of arts and parties, but it has set conditions and controls to ensure that the customs and traditions inherited by the Egyptian people are not prejudiced.”

The Syndicate explained: “And since the General Syndicate is part of the fabric of this beloved country, working on its stability and security, and refusing to tamper with societal values, Egyptian and Arab customs and traditions, it is after extrapolating and polling the opinions of the pioneers of social networking sites, and after what was reported to the Syndicate of Musical Professions, its General Syndicate and its Board of Directors of news It topped the search engines and social media, including pictures and documented information about the strange rituals of the star of this concert, which he presents during his performance, and harnesses his tools in order to establish rituals that are inconsistent with our authentic societal values ​​and traditions.

The Syndicate concluded its statement by saying: “Therefore, the General Syndicate and the Board of Directors decided to cancel the license issued to hold this type of party, which contradicts the cultural identity of the Egyptian people.”

The American rapper had announced a few days ago, through his Twitter account, the release of his album “Utopia” at the Pyramids of Giza. “I can’t wait to see you,” he said.

Many activists responded by launching a “hashtag” on Twitter, during the past few days, to demand the cancellation of the American rapper’s concert, which was scheduled for July 28 at the foot of the pyramids, and accused him of performing strange and unacceptable rituals.

Egyptian activist Wael Ghoneim also entered the line of controversy and criticism of the concert, calling on officials to cancel it.
