Gualdrón said that article 217 of Law 1801 indicates that evidentiary means, such as camera videos and social networks, can be used by authorities to apply sanctions.

Mayor Jorge Iván Ospina had maintained that the MIOCable, as well as other public spaces, cannot be used for obscene acts that cause disrespect to the community. He also reminded that this is a violation of the rules of the Police Code.

“I tell the people who have sex in the MIO and in the MIOCable that they are sick in the head. They are committing an infraction, according to the Police Code. They have to go to the psychiatrist, the psychologist because they are being irresponsible,” said the leader of the Cali people.

In a statement, the president of Metrocali, Óscar Javier Ortiz, said: “Metrocali expresses its strongest rejection of the recent recording and dissemination of inappropriate content, which took place in one of the MIOCable cabins that is part of the infrastructure of our public transportation system, which is intended solely and exclusively for the provision of transportation service to our users and which must be put to good use by the community.”

He noted: “We consider that this type of behavior in public spaces is totally unacceptable and goes against the values ​​of respect, healthy coexistence and responsibility that we promote in our city.”
