Controversial Photo Sparks Debate About Nancy Ajram’s Alleged Normalization

A photo published by an Israeli fan, accompanied by the Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram, sparked widespread interaction on social media, as the artist was criticized and accused of normalization, while the reactions were not without support and justification.

And within the program of her summer concerts in different countries, the artist Nancy revived a concert for the Arab community in Cyprus, and witnessed a large presence of her fans there.

After the ceremony, the pioneers of the communication sites shared a picture – which was published by a fan of the Lebanese artist on her account on the Instagram site – with the comment, “Nancy Ajram is the best of all.” This image sparked controversy after knowing the identity of the fan.

After tracking by activists, it became clear that the fan was an Israeli woman named Yehudit Dosh, according to what she published on her accounts on the communication sites, which prompted tweeters to attack the Lebanese singer and accuse her of normalization.

Accusation and defense

And the “Shabakat” program (20/7/2023) monitored an aspect of the interaction of two tweeters with this photo, including what Nader wrote: “Yes, you must know who is attending your party. Yes, you must be careful in dealing with the nationalities of your audience. Do not say that she did not know, the affection and kindness between them is clear.”

On the same line of criticism, Merihan wrote: “What’s new? Most of the celebrities have begun to print publicly, and had it not been for their fear of the Arab public who sees normalization as a red line, they would have announced it openly.”

On the other hand, Danielle wrote: “I mean, Nancy must ask for the identity of everyone who missed (entering) her concerts, and see if he has the right to imagine or not … it does not affect, Nancy did not sell them your oil wealth.”

Shadi Mansour also tweeted outside the swarm of criticism, and said, “The word is right and it is not important to criticize to criticize..I remember very well when #Nancy_Ajram refused to speak to an Israeli journalist during a press conference at the #Jerash_Festival 2007, and asked the organizers to take her out.. Today Nancy is flogged and crucified because one of them took a picture with her and it happened that she was Israeli.”

As for Nirine, she tweeted: “Do you justify explicit and public normalization and encourage dealing with the Israelis as a segment of our society? Cultural normalization is a disaster, do not underestimate its value.”

After the escalating controversy, and accusations against the Lebanese artist of normalization with the Israeli occupation, Nancy wrote on her official account on Twitter, “I will not testify to my patriotism to anyone!
