Candidate Shin Won-sik appeared on Pastor Gwang-hoon Jeon’s YouTube broadcast in August 2019.
He reads the speech in time for Pastor Jeon’s posthumous speech and begins to defend Lee Wan-yong, the main culprit of the Japan-Japanese Treaty of Korea, who sold the country to Japan.

However, at yesterday’s personnel hearing, Candidate Shin denied that he had ever made such a statement.

Candidate Shin showed off his closeness by attending rallies hosted by Pastor Kwang-Hoon Jeon at least 12 times over the three years since 2018.

Candidate Shin Won-sik explained that the expression came from criticizing the foreign policy of the Moon Jae-in administration and that he never defended Lee Wan-yong.
The Democratic Party demanded that President Yoon Seok-yeol withdraw the nomination of Defense Minister Shin Won-sik, who destroys the spirit of the Constitution.
The Democratic Party also demanded that the Ministry of National Defense reveal the details of the suspicion that it forced financial support from economic organizations and companies for the Armed Forces Day event, saying it amounts to abuse of power.
