After an imposed – but life-saving – break due to COVID-19, Lenni Kim is back. And it is clear that the fans were waiting for him firmly: the clip for his song Melancholy is approaching half a million views, two weeks after its release.
The 19-year-old singer does not hide it: he felt a certain impatience among his fans, deprived of new material since the release of Bad Buzz in March 2020. But a break was necessary for Lenni Kim.
It was first of all the COVID-19 which imposed a downtime on him following a positive test in March 2020. But even if he quickly got back on his feet, an extension to this break was required. Because he admits to having known a darker period at this time last year.
“People see a smile on social media and imagine that everything is fine, that you have everything you can dream of. But in reality, I was not doing very well. I felt very lonely. Mentally, I was not in the best of my form, I cried often ”, confides Lenni Kim in interview with the Journal.
Get out of the whirlwind
Propelled into the public eye in 2013 thanks to The Voice Kids, in France, Lenni Kim has never left since. Quebecers have seen him on stage or on screen with roles in The beautiful discomforts and The part of the angels. The French public has made him a well-known star thanks to his concerts and performances on the sets of Dance with the stars or even Tomorrow belongs to us.
The pandemic uprooting him from this whirlwind, the singer was able to rest his two feet firmly on the ground of his native Montreal, thus finding his bearings.
“I needed to reconnect with myself. To take time to work on me. And that gave me the opportunity to ask myself the right questions, namely in which direction I want to continue moving forward, ”he admits.
Then followed a personal journey during which was born Melancholy. This new single lays the foundations for Lenni Kim’s next album, a project that will allow him to reveal himself more to his fans.
A role in English
But by the time of the release of this second opus – for which no date has yet been announced – it is on the small screen that we will soon be able to find Lenni Kim. He recently landed his very first English role in the series Transplant, alongside Laurence Leboeuf.
His character, the details of which he must for the moment keep silent, will appear in the second season of the medical drama.
“The machine has officially started again. And that feels good, ”he confides.
