Conservas Lolín announces the closure of its factory | SER Castro Urdiales

Conservas Lolín has announced the closure of its factory, after 65 years of activity. A decision that the company has taken after the Superior Court of Justice of Cantabria has ratified the plenary sessions that rejected the agreement between the mercantile and the Castro Urdiales City Council.

The agreement contemplated the transfer of the factory to the Vallegón industrial estate and the sale of the plot occupied by the current facilities to create a shopping center. Steps necessary for the viability of the company and the maintenance of its 50 jobs, according to those responsible for the company.

The TSJC has specifically rejected Conservas Lolín’s appeal against the plenary agreements of the Military Council, which denied the specific modification of the General Urban Planning Plan preventing the transfer of the factory.

The manager of the company and spokesman for the PRC in Castro, Jesús Gutiérrez, has informed the workers of the business decision and has told Cadena SER that does not plan to appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court.
