On the afternoon of the 14th, the last day of the Lunar New Year holiday, traffic congestion continues in some sections of the highways across the country.
According to the Korea Expressway Corporation, the direction of Seoul on the Gyeongbu Expressway as of 4 p.m. on the same day is from Cheongju Junction to Oksan, Mokcheon to Cheonan Junction, Yangjae and Banpo, etc. In the direction of Busan, a total of 13km is congested, including Hannam-Seocho and Singil Junction-Suwon.
In the direction of Seoul on the Seohaean Expressway, cars are traveling slowly in a total of 21 km, including Dangjin-Seohae Bridge. Vehicle traffic is smooth in the direction of Mokpo. The Seoul Metropolitan Area 1 Beltway Expressway (formerly Seoul Outer Ring Expressway) is 8km from Jangsu to Songnae in the direction of Ilsan, and 7km from Gyeyang to Songnae in Guri.
The Yeongdong Expressway shows a frustrating trend in a total of 14 km, including Yeoju Service Area in the Incheon direction and near Hobeop Junction.
It takes 4 hours and 30 minutes to arrive at Seoul toll booths from major cities across the country by car at 5 pm, and is expected to be 4 hours and 30 minutes in Busan, 3 hours 40 minutes in Gwangju, 3 hours 30 minutes in Daegu, and 2 hours 50 minutes in Gangneung.
On this day, the Korea Highway Corporation predicted the national traffic volume of 3.49 million units. It has been observed that 300,000 vehicles will move from the metropolitan area to the local area and 370,000 vehicles from the local area to the metropolitan area. The congestion in the direction of return will peak around 3-4 pm, and will be resolved around 9-10 pm.
