Conflict over rural land in Ndingler: La Sédima offers a solution to the populations

The deputy managing director of Sédima Abattoir, Moustapha Diop spoke on the land dispute, opposing his business to the people of Ndengler. He revealed against all odds that the disputed lands are not from Ndengler, but rather from Djilakh.

Defense arguments…

“These lands, of which we hold legal papers, are located in Djilakh. So if they say that the Sedima took land from Ndengler, it did not happen, ”he said. Diop, who was Rfm’s guest this morning, explained how the land was acquired: “Everything was legal. We have expressed a need. The rural council of Sindia then granted it to us with recognized papers. Then, two years later, we applied for a lease. We got it. In 2019, we applied for a successful land title. We have gone through legal channels ”.

La Sédima plans an investment of 500 million CFA francs for land and facilities.

And, to get out of this deadlock, the Sedima made a proposal. Mr. Diop explains: “What Sédima is ready to do is that those who claim this land, wherever their mayor will allocate land to them, wherever it is, we are ready to do the earthworks, assure them development so that they can exploit it. But it is inconceivable that we want to claim a land that does not belong to you ”Will the populations accept such a proposal? The ball is in their court.

In the meantime, Moustapha Diop informs that Sédima has spent more than 500 million CFA francs between the regularization of the land and the installations which were carried out there, within the framework of the implementation of a horticultural project.
