E’ nata Confagribio Campaniathe association headed by Confagricoltura Campania and which has as its statutory objective the promotion and valorisation of organically oriented agricultural businesses in the various production sectors.
In Campania, in fact, the organic cultivated area has grown significantly in recent years, marking a plus 55% compared to 2020 and reaching (2022 data) 101,759 hectares, including 11,885 of cereals, 28,637 of meadows and pastures, 15,682 of fodder crops, 12,892 of olive trees, 10,912 of nuts, 3,361 of vegetables, 3,494 of fruit, 2,733 screw.
The number of organic operators in the regional territory is also significant, 7,322 in 2022, of which 6,093 producers, 638 preparers, 41 importers and 550 producers/preparers.
«Hence the need – explains Michele Montellanew president of Confagribio Campania – to enhance and spread the development of organic farming and related agricultural practices; to promote organic livestock farming as a practice aimed at the functional maintenance of agroecosystems and land fertility, also with a view to counteracting the phenomenon of crop abandonment with consequent processes of hydrogeological instability»
The task of the association – which is based in Naples in Corso Arnaldo Lucci, 137 at Confagricoltura Campania – is to also make citizens and consumers aware of certified organic products, beneficial interactions for the climate and biodiversity that organic farming practices return to the community, starting with pollinating insects and pollinators.
The deed of incorporation was signed by the notary by entrepreneurs and legal representatives of organic agricultural companies and companies from the 5 provinces of Campania
