Condusef alerts about the identity theft of financial companies

The National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (Condusef) alerted about the identity fraud of seven financial institutions in the country registered in their Registration System for Financial Service Providers (Sipres).

The modus operandi of fraudsters consists of offering immediate credits with few requirements and requesting advances to grant them, for this they request to send information via WhatsApp, Facebook o Messenger.

Thus, they use information such as company name, addresses, telephone numbers and corporate image (logos) of duly authorized and registered financial entities, to impersonate them, and they also request their victims to send their personal information via WhatsApp, putting their personal data at risk. .

The Condusef He emphasized that this type of fraudster request advances in cash or by deposit to a bank account to “set aside the credit”, manage it, advance monthly payments, pay expenses for opening or as a guarantee; generally for the equivalent of 10% of the total amount of the credit, for which he asked clients to avoid any credit that has these conditions.
