Concerns over Covid-19 omicron in Europe tighten restrictions / Article

With the onset of winter, when people are staying more indoors, infection with Covid-19 is on the rise again in Europe. An additional concern is the omicron strain of the virus, for which scientists do not yet have sufficient data. To prevent overcrowding and the deaths of many people, countries are renewing stricter restrictions and trying in various ways to get people vaccinated against the dangerous virus.

Epidemiological constraints are being tightened in Europe

The Irish government announced new restrictions on Friday night that will take effect in the country on Sunday. They provide that pubs and restaurants will be open until 8 pm, while indoor events and sporting events will be attended by 50% of the maximum number of people. Entertainment can be attended with a Covid-19 certificate.

The new restrictions will take effect at least until January 30.

The Irish Prime Minister, Michael Martin, said there was an urgent need to reduce physical contact not only in Ireland but across Europe to curb the spread of the Covid-19 omicron.

“It simply came to our notice then. We are all tired of covidium and the restrictions it imposes. Difficulties, frustrations and dissatisfaction severely depress everyone. But that is the reality we are facing. We cannot just stop it, and there is no silver bullet to beat it. We are talking about living with a coward, and some believe that this means a return to life as it was before the pandemic. But it is not. It means understanding the virus, controlling it, making changes when it changes, and doing whatever it takes to protect people’s lives, health and livelihoods, ”the Irish prime minister said on television.

Ireland has one of the highest rates of Covid-19 vaccination in Europe.

There, to date, more than 76% of the population have received at least two doses of the vaccine and 26% have received the support vaccine.

French Prime Minister Jean-Claude has announced that the covid omicron is spreading at lightning speed in the country and is likely to become predominant in France early next year. He added that too little was still known about the species, but that there were no indications that it could be more dangerous than the delta species. Currently available data suggest that a third dose of the vaccine is effective in preventing severe disease.

Box also stated that

In France, stricter restrictions will come into force for people who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19.

It is unacceptable that the lives of the entire country are at risk due to a few million people, the Prime Minister said.

The Danish government has also announced new restrictions following the registration of 11,000 cowids in the country on Thursday.

This was the highest number of cases detected in a single day since the start of the pandemic.

Denmark was one of the first European countries to lift restrictions completely this summer due to high vaccination coverage among the population.
