Through a tournament that will start in October this year and that will end in March 2022, the three countries that will represent the Concacaf at the World Cup of Qatar 2022, as well as the team that obtains the half ticket of the Continental Repechage, as announced by the Confederation this Monday through a press release.
The traditional Hexagonal end which was where the Tricolor got his rankings will no longer be disputed, as Mediotiempo advanced since last Saturday, because now there will be eight nations that in a Final Round and in 14 matches the 3.5 places that FIFA gives to the region are disputed. Mexico, U.S, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Honduras they have already secured a place in this Octagonal due to the accumulation of points in the FIFA ranking of last July 16.
The other three places will fight between the 30 remaining countries of Concacaf, from 6 to 35 according to the FIFA ranking. They will play a First Round divided into six groups and the winner of each sector will go to a second round.
In this stage, the teams will play direct elimination in round trip games. The three winners will go to the aforementioned Octagonal Final where tickets to Qatar 2022 will be disputed.
According to the published information, the new format will start at FIFA dates October and November. In March 2021, the first FIFA Date of that year, the Second Round will be played and June 2021 to March 2022 the Final Octagonal will be played.
