Gdynia – USK Prague 76:85, Basketball players USK in EL at the end of the bubble in Turkey defeated Gdynia

Today, the USK Praha basketball players defeated Gdynia 85:76 in the third round of the European League. The selection of coach Natálie Hejková thus ended the introductory part of the basic group in Istanbul with a balance of two victories and one defeat. The remaining three matches, in which two places will be played in the quarterfinals, await the Czech team in January.

The USK players started the match the day after winning 80:79 over Lyon, in the first match in the anti-coronavirus bubble in Turkey on Tuesday they lost 70:77 to the home Fenerbahce. Gdynia, on the other hand, lost both previous matches in the group in Turkey and failed even against the Prague team.

After a balanced first quarter, the USK managed to bounce in the second and after the first half led 42:34. The biggest credit for that went to the pivotal Brionna Jones, who scored 16 points and seven rebounds in the opening act. Alyssa Thomas contributed 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists to the lead.

After the break, the USK players did not admit the drama and gradually increased the lead to a difference of 17 points. In the end, they won 85:76 and before the second part of the basic group, where two promotion places will be played from 19 to 21 January, they have the same balance as Lyon and Fenerbahce. Gdynia is the last with three defeats.

Jones was the best scorer of the match with 28 points and ten rebounds. The American pivot played the entire match, as did her compatriot Thomas, who recorded a triple-double with a balance of 19 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists. Alice Kuneková was the best in the Gdynia jersey with 24 points.
