Component shortage “affects everyone except Apple,” analyst says

After the shortage of consoles next gen (PS5, Xbox Series) and graphics cards, are we heading for a shortage of components in the smartphone sector? In any case, this is what has been said for several days, and not only in the mouths of analysts or forecasters on Wall Street. So, Xiaomi confirmed a few days ago the existence of extremely strong tensions on the supply of certain components. Even today, we learn that Samsung would ignore his Galaxy Note mainly due to a shortage of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chips (mainly made by TSMC)

The production of Qualcomm chips would therefore be under tension to the point of limiting or delaying the availability of certain flagships Android. What about Apple? According to Mr. S. Hwang, an analyst at Samsung Securities, the Cupertino company could indirectly benefit from this situation: “The limited availability of the Qualcomm AP chip offering produced by TSMC affects everyone except Apple” says the analyst.

In this tense context, Apple is indeed fortunate to be able to rely on production units entirely dedicated, and calibrated, to the manufacture of iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, etc., even though manufacturers Android must share the volumes of components available (or not) on the market.
