Guido Roa, from the police department specialized in cybercrime investigation, indicated that on average they receive between 7 to 10 complaints per week, at least that is what is known but there may be more.
The modus operandi is a social engineering that criminals use to contact potential victims and usually pose as people who offer internet improvement services, call data packages or simply request verification code.
Roa recommended that no verification code be shared with anyone, which is what they need to violate your WhatsApp account.
I explain that in this pandemic there was even an excessive consumption of the internet, which is why many complaints about child pornography and scams through social networks appeared.
