Vlissingen will also have a Delta Knowledge Center that focuses on “the unique Zeeland combination of food, water and energy.” The train connection from Zeeland to the Randstad, Brabant and Flanders is also getting faster. Finally, there will be a general practitioner training in Zeeland and a regional health center in Vlissingen.

In 2012, the decision was made to move the marine barracks from Doorn to Vlissingen. But that led to resistance among the Marines. To accommodate them, compensation will be provided.
