157 or 359 euros? It’s not just the prices for oil changes in German workshops that differ significantly. Drivers who compare can save.
Battery empty, brakes tired, oil change due – that costs money. Carly has now determined exactly how much. In his analysis, the specialist for OBD adapters, which enable you to read out the control devices yourself, compares the DEKRA hourly billing rates and the effective repair costs in the 20 largest German cities.
Result: Typical maintenance work such as changing oil, brake pads and Starter battery vary significantly depending on the city.
► Frankfurt am Main is particularly expensive: 359 euros are due for the oil service in the banking metropolis. In Dortmund, 230 kilometers away, it only costs 157 euros for the same work.
► This means: Anyone who compares can save a lot. For drivers in Essen or Bochum, for example, a detour to nearby Dortmund is worthwhile. Here the average cost of the three repair services is only 312 euros, while in the neighboring Ruhr metropolises over 400 euros are due for identical vehicle work.
► Berlin also attracts with comparatively cheap workshop prices of 329.65 euros. The two cities are followed by Leipzig, where drivers have to pay an average of 344.81 euros.
The prices were determined not only on the basis of the DEKRA hourly billing rates, but also on the actual repair costs. The Deutsche Automobil Treuhand (DAT) collected these data in three workshops in each city for the VW Golf, Opel Astra and Mercedes C 200 models.
