I started getting calls from the companies we work with on the projects that they are shutting down, reported Plovdiv24.bg the deputy mayor Plamen Raichev after today’s vote of the municipal councilors, which did not approve the indexation of contracts for 5 infrastructure projects because of inflation.
“They have been following the session and are already issuing stop-work letters. Some of them are saying that they will reduce the pace of construction activities. They are categorical that they cannot withstand the increases in materials. In this case, most believe that it is more “It’s better to stop and pay fines than to pay extra with personal funds,” said Raychev and pointed out that this is exactly what the company PIMK, which is carrying out the reconstruction of Brezovsko shose, said.
Its owner, Iliyan Filipov, has said that he agrees to pay a penalty of 1 million, instead of 3.5 million BGN, which he needs for the indexation of the implementation of the project. “Dragiev & Co” and “Road Engineering” agree to work, but at a slower pace.
“This is valid for all sites for which we requested an increase. We expected it. It has been known since April that there is an increase in materials and it cannot be sustained, and we are working on the case. In principle, the construction pace has already stopped, they are vegetating , are waiting for an update. There is already a serious backlog of the entire investment program of the municipality. Without the help of the municipality and the state, we cannot cope,” said Raichev.
The deputy mayor admits his mistake and his team’s fault for not presenting to the municipal councilors all the necessary materials for today’s session, but they were advised to do so by the lawyers, because there really is a trade secret in the contracts.
On August 2 there is a new session of the Municipal Council, when Plamen Raichev will make another attempt to get the increase for contractor companies voted on, taking into account all the councilors’ comments. All public information will be provided to them.
“I hope we can find a common solution, especially since everyone agrees that there is an increase. That’s why we will look for an option together”, added the deputy mayor Plamen Raichev.
Meanwhile, the serious backlog of construction activities on important road projects is visible to the naked eye. An extremely large difficulty is created for the traffic during the repair of “Brezovsko shose”. There is tension among the drivers. The journey is difficult, and the postponement of the deadlines for the completion of the repairs escalates the dissatisfaction of the citizens.
The same applies to other infrastructure projects.
