Communities Surprised Planned Hajj Costs Rp. 69 Million

Jakarta

The Corruption Eradication Committee and the Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas held a meeting today regarding the costs of organizing it cost Hajj 2023. The KPK highlights the discourse on the increase cost pilgrimage to Rp. 69 million which surprised people.

“When the Ministry of Religion announced plans for an ONH (pilgrimage fee) in 2023 worth IDR 69 million, maybe people were surprised,” said Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Nurul Ghufron at the KPK building, Jalan Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday (27/1/2023).

According to Ghufron, many residents consider the proposed increase in the cost of the pilgrimage to be high. He said the fare went up haji which is still in the reasonable category in society ranges from IDR 35-40 million.

“So far, what is assumed or seen in society is that the cost of Hajj or what we know as ONH is between Rp. 35 million and maybe Rp. 40 million. Starting from departure, perhaps transportation, accommodation, living expenses there, until returning are sufficient, with an amount between Rp. 35 million to Rp. 40 million,” said Ghufron.

In the discourse on increasing the cost of the pilgrimage, the Ministry of Religion divided the percentage 70 percent paid privately and 30 percent subsidized by the government. Ghufron hopes that this funding system will not harm any party.

“The point is that the Corruption Eradication Committee will assist the Ministry of Religion but also assist the Indonesian people so that the determination of the costs of the pilgrimage to be borne by the community is of course as efficient as possible but must also comply with the principle self or ability,” he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said the cost of paying this year’s Hajj was still in the discussion stage. Yaqut then explained about the cost of the pilgrimage trip (Bipih) and the cost of organizing the pilgrimage (BPIH).

“BPIH is the cost that must be spent to finance the pilgrimage trip, and Bipih is what is paid by the prospective congregation, this is different,” said Yaqut.

Yaqut ensured that this year’s haj funding system was implemented to maintain the continuity of prospective hajj pilgrims from Indonesia in the coming years.

“This is certainly one of the efforts to take care sustainability Hajj finances so that pilgrims who have already departed, now who have, in previous years, do not erode the rights of pilgrims who have not departed,” said Yaqut.
