Whether as Defense Minister or Governor, Hans Peter Doskozil remains true to one maxim – attack is the best defense. So he reacted on Monday to the latest developments in the balance sheet scandal of the commercial bank: On Monday morning Doskozil had a KURIER report, according to which the regional subsidiary RMB wanted to transfer around 1.2 million euros from the bank two and a half hours before the official closure, with a media turnaround still referred to as a “lie”.
In the evening, after a conversation with the RMB managing director, Doskozil knew that there was an attempt. The governor of the RMB had confirmed this to him in a one-on-one conversation, the governor admitted in an interview Burgenland today on request. But the fact is, according to Doskozil, that ultimately no money was withdrawn and the RMB did not lie with the commercial bank at 2.5 million euros, but around 1.4 million euros. Up to 100,000 euros from deposit insurance, the rest of the world seems to be “lost”. The RMB takes care of the planning and control of EU funding.
