According to insiders, the US carmaker General Motors wants to launch a new vehicle series consisting of pick-ups and SUVs with electric drives and to reissue the Hummer brand with an electric off-road vehicle. The return of the legendary brand should be linked to an advertisement at the Super Bowl, two people familiar with the matter said to Reuters.
According to earlier information from insiders, the vehicles will be built at the US plant in Detroit-Hamtramck. There GM is investing around three billion dollars (2.71 billion euros) to build electric vehicles. GM did not want to comment on this.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the fans
In 2010 General Motors stamped the Hummer brand, the off-road vehicle disappeared from production. Arnold Schwarzenegger used to be one of the fans of the massive off-road vehicle, although he had his model converted to hydrogen.
