Colt CZ Acquires Sellier & Bellot for $350 Million: Czech Arms Industry News

Already in the middle of December last year, the Colt CZ company announced the purchase of the Vlach arms manufacturer Sellier & Bellot. Colt CZ will pay the current owner CBC Europe 350 million dollars, equivalent to 8.1 billion crowns, for a 100% share in Sellier & Bellot, and will issue a new issue of ordinary shares. After the transaction is completed, CBC will acquire a 27 to 28 percent stake in Colt CZ. Today, the Office for the Protection of Economic Competition (ÚOHS) announced that they have given official permission to this business.

“Taking into account the fact that Sellier & Bellot is an important Czech manufacturer of small arms ammunition, and at the same time the Colt group is an important Czech producer of small arms, the buyer’s office came to the competitors who were coming together. Even a more detailed examination of the specified areas did not provide information that the considered union could have a negative impact on economic competition in the Czech Republic,” said the ÚOHS in the report. The decision is final.

Sellier & Bellot manufactures small scale ammunition. The history of the company based in Vlašim in Benešovsk dates back to 1825. “The acquisition of Sellier&Bellot fits into our long-term strategy of expansion not only in our core sector of small arms, but also in related industries where weapons are a natural help. to our products,” said the president and former chairman of the Board of Directors of Colt CZ Jan Drahota. According to him, CBC will become the second largest shareholder of Colt CZ.

“Our Magtech Ammunition subsidiary will continue to be the exclusive sales unit for Sellier&Bellot products in the United States,” said Fabio Mazzaro, CFO Global Ammunition LLC CBC.

Sellier&Bellot’s product portfolio includes hunting and sporting weapons and components for pistols and revolvers, rifles, shotguns and shotguns. The business is also a major supplier of firearms to the military and armed forces around the world.
