Colomiers. Cultural residence in Val d’Aran

Since 2016, the city of Colomiers has placed culture at the heart of the urban renewal project of its neighborhoods. Until 2020, artist residencies have been hosted in the Fenassiers district. This fall, the “Bavard.es” collective, made up of Lison Domé and Hugo Leprince, was chosen by the city to support the transformation of the Val d’Aran district. These collect the memories of the inhabitants of the district in order to create a fanzine, that is to say a publication, printed or online, from elements in different forms (drawn, pasted, written, etc.). This support will deal, thanks to the accumulation of images and words, with this sensitive subject which is the transformation of a neighborhood. Lison and Hugo, both graduates of the Lille School of Architecture and Landscape, present themselves as “explorers of the territory, artist-architects”. And to specify: “By putting at the heart of our practice the conviviality and the benevolence, we want to listen, the pens, the brushes and all the tools able to give a voice to those who live, have lived and will inhabit our territories” .

A Facebook page to share memories

In order to reach as many people as possible, they have even created a Facebook page, “Souvenirs du Val d’Aran”, on which everyone can share their own memories and photos and reconnect with former classmates or neighbors. . To carry out their work, they have a room at the neighborhood citizen’s center and the social landlord, Altéal, has provided them with accommodation within the Val d’Aran itself. And, every Thursday morning, Lison and Hugo are present on the footbridge (which links with the city center and which will be destroyed in the spring of 2022) to collect anecdotes, stories and engage in discussions with residents. They will complete their mission on December 13, 2021, after three months of residence. A public event is planned for Saturday, December 4 as part of the restitution of their work.
