Colomiers. After rain the good weather

“The season for terraces is open!” exclaimed Lionel Carbonnel, announcing in mid May, on Facebook, “the resumption” of his activity: in this case, the reopening of the terrace of his Brasserie l’Airbus, rue du Center.

For him, as for all his colleagues, the dark period was starting to clear up after months of confinement, deconfinement, re-confinement… “Yes, this crisis, I lived it very badly!” he admits. “State aid helped us, of course: my 3 employees (in the kitchen, at the service and at the counter), received 84% of their salary. Me, I put myself where the need arises, of one side, the other, but I’m not an employee! Fortunately, I was able to work at Super U during the Covid crisis: the directors offered me a permanent contract. I appreciated their solidarity! “

Many regulars were impatiently awaiting the resumption: “At the beginning, only the terrace was open, and unfortunately it rained quite a bit… But as soon as the weather allowed it, they came back!” likes Lionel. “The town hall also helped us well, by allowing us to take up a little more space on the terrace. The Airbus also resumed its musical entertainment on Saturday (a singer-musician intervenes from 10 am to 4 pm)”.

President of the Association of Merchants of the Center, Lionel Carbonnel would also like to “pass the torch”: “I have been in this position for 3 years. It is rich in contacts, it allowed me to get to know the merchants better. I am available , we exchange between us. I think that some are ready to commit themselves to take over. They are all motivated to energize the Plein Center, we await the results of the study which was launched on this subject. Immediately, the main thing is to get back in the saddle, to work “normally” again, to find our customers. I hope that we can do a clearance sale at the start of the school year, in September! “.
