Colombia seizes more than half a ton of cocaine bound for the United States

The Colombian army reported Monday that seized more than half a ton of cocaine from a group of dissidents from the disappeared Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in an area of ​​the department of Arauca, in the east of the country, destined for the United States and which would have a cost in the illegal market of $ 40 million.

Operations against the seizure of this drug have increased during the mandatory quarantine for the new coronavirus and more control has been imposed on the roads and ports. It is the largest seizure recently, it was reported.

The general of the army and commander of the area, Jairo Fuentes, said that after carrying out intelligence work, five plastic containers with 516 kilograms of the drug were located and that they were destined for Mexican cartels and later the United States.

The seizure was carried out near the town of La Becerra, south of Arauca, and was handed over to the Attorney General’s Office. In this action there were no captured.
