Equally delicate is the situation in the neighboring department of Bolívar, with 13 deaths recorded during the day, 11 of which occurred in Cartagena de Indias, its capital.

In Sucre, another Caribbean department, the pandemic also began to accelerate in recent days and this Friday registered the unprecedented number of 10 deaths: eight in Sincelejo, its capital, and the other two in the towns of Sampués and Guaranda.

According to health authorities, the Atlantic also had the highest number of infections this Friday, with 1,653 cases corresponding to 43% of the day’s total, of which 891 were confirmed in Barranquilla.

Bogotá had 903 new infected, followed by Bolívar (286), Valle del Cauca (248) and Antioquia (190), among the cities most compromised with the disease.

Given the complicated panorama of Barranquilla, the mayor of the city, Jaime Pumarejo, announced the reinforcement of measures to try to mitigate the pandemic.

Pumarejo extended until July 15 the compulsory isolation that was due to end on June 30, date until which the face-to-face sales of non-essential commerce will also be prohibited and provided that there will be a 24-hour curfew on Friday, July 3 to avoid crowds of people in warehouses for being the second day without VAT of the year.
