Collectible toys and trains at auction this weekend in Chartres

Back to childhood or a golden opportunity for fans of collectible toys and trains. This weekend, several exceptional lots will be auctioned by the Galerie de Chartres, in their auction house and online.

This Saturday 13 June will be dedicated to collectible toys: soldiers and figurines, planes, boats, post-war toys, cars … On Sunday 14 June, trains will be in the spotlight with, in particular, an estimated German steam locomotive at € 86,000. “But it starts at 150 €,” reassures Alain Paris, auctioneer. “There is something for everyone.”

Live sales: the future of auctions?

“Toys and trains are highly sought after by collectors,” he continues. “We are the leaders in this field. At least three to four sales a year on this theme.”

No reservation is necessary, but wearing a mask is compulsory. The auction house has a capacity of around forty people, not counting the online and live auctions which are attracting more and more buyers. “It works,” says Alain Paris. “It may be the future, I don’t know. But we like the public, to see how it reacts.”

The auctioneers were also affected by the coronavirus crisis and the confinement period, “but we haven’t stopped. We are preparing sales so that we can resume as soon as possible”.
