Cocaine trafficking between Guyana and Rennes: the trial will start on November 15 – Rennes

It is a large-scale cocaine trafficking between Guyana and Ille-et-Vilaine which had been dismantled in January 2020. Arrested following a legal operation carried out in Guyana, Rennes and the Hauts de France, 29 people will be judged from Monday, November 15 before the Criminal Court of Rennes, said the public prosecutor, Philippe Astruc, in a press release. The trial of the indicted should be held until November 26. Among those prosecuted, seven men, aged 25 to 57, are currently in pre-trial detention and 17 are under judicial supervision. The defendants incur “a 10-year prison sentence, doubled in the event of legal recidivism, in addition to heavy penalties of tort and customs fines and the confiscation of their property”, specifies the prosecution.

This dismantling operation had mobilized nearly 300 gendarmes and made it possible to challenge the protagonists, including the heads of networks, belonging to this international cocaine import organization. 100,000 € as well as nearly 5 kg of cocaine had been seized.
