1. FC Slovácko complied with the request of coach Martin Svědík, who requested early termination of the contract on 30.6.2024. After a mutual agreement between the club and the coach, Martin Svědík will leave the Slovak club after six seasons.

“Martin Svědík asked us to release him from the coaching position at the end of the current season. Although Martin Svědík has a contract with Slovácko until the summer of 2025 and we were interested in keeping this contract, the board of directors of the club finally decided that his request would be granted by mutual agreement. We wish him all the best in his future career and especially in his personal life and thank him for the professionally done work,” said 1.FCSlovácko director Petr Pojezný after the board meeting.

“Even though I still have a year left in my contract in Slovakia, I felt that our time was up. I appreciate what I experienced here and I also appreciate the fact that the club management took it and we agreed that I will quit after this season. It’s not a decision I would make based on a few weeks, it’s a longer-term consideration and I thought it fair to tell Slovácko ahead of time so that the management could react and look for a new coach. I didn’t want to put the club under pressure and in trouble in this direction. It is important to mention that the decision to quit is not influenced by a third party, it is only between me and Slovácko. I am convinced that this moment can help me and the club. I will complete my work here 100 percent, everyone in the management, the entire implementation team and the players know that. I lived in Slovácko for six seasons, it was a beautiful period and unforgettable things: we won the domestic cup, we played in the Conference League, those were wonderful moments for me and the whole club, but the whole journey through which we got so high was amazing. I will remember that and I will always like to come back here. It will be hard to say goodbye after such a long time, but I am ending it by saying that we are parting as friends. I honestly don’t know what will happen next. A new engagement is offered, or a break from training, which I would use mainly towards my family, possibly for self-education and internships abroad,” explained coach Svědik.

Martin Svědík came to Slovácko in the fall of 2018, and with the team we gradually fought our way up to 4th place in the league table, which Slovácko achieved in the 2020/2021 season and a year later repeated its position, and in May 2022, Slovácko also won a historic trophy when in the cup final beat Sparta Prague 3:1. In autumn, Slovácko played in the preliminary round of the European League, where it was not enough against the Turkish Fenerbahce Istanbul, when they lost 0:3 in Istanbul and drew 1:1 at home with the Turkish team. However, after the wins over AIK Stockholm, Slovácko qualified for the basic group of the Conference League, where they faced FK Partizan Belgrade, OGC Nice and 1.FC Köln.
