Clubhouse exits beta phase and becomes available to everyone – IT Pro – News

Audio chat app Clubhouse is no longer invite-only. This allows anyone to download the Clubhouse app for iOS and Android and create a new account. Users who are on the waiting list are gradually also gaining access to the audio chat platform.

Clubhouse founders Paul Davidson and Rohan Seth let us know in a blog post that the chat app left its beta phase on Monday. With this, the company has removed the waiting list system, so that anyone can create a new account. Users who are on the waiting list are gradually added to the app.

A spokesperson for Clubhouse reports to The Verge that millions of people on the waiting list are not immediately added to the platform, but that users can also manually re-register via the app. The company also shows a new logo in the form of a kind of waving emoji. The app icon also changes to a photo of Justin “Meezy” Williams, the manager of rapper 21 Savage. The company says it will release a new update every one to two weeks.

Clubhouse came out for iOS last year and became very popular. The app lets users create chat rooms, in which the hosts be able to speak to each other. Other users can also enter these rooms if allowed, but can only listen to the conversation. Meanwhile, the app has competition from various companies, who have incorporated the functionality of Clubhouse into their respective platforms. For example, Twitter introduced earlier this year Spaces, came Facebook on Discord with Clubhouse-like features and introduced Spotify its Greenhouse-audiochatapp.
