The municipal authorities of Comines-Warneton took additional measures on Monday to stop the spread of the coronavirus. Four cases of Covid-19, a child and three young adults, from two different households in the entities of Ploegsteert and Bas-Warneton, were detected on Friday. Restaurants in the Horeca sector must now close at 11:00 p.m.

Among these four individuals, two were tested in France and two, by a local doctor“, said Alice Leeuwerck, the mayor of Comines-Warneton.

These people, having been in close contact with members of their respective families, have also frequented sports clubs, rest homes, their circles of friends and workplaces. Some relatives of these families have been tested negative. Others are awaiting results or have yet to be tested.

Several restrictions

On Monday, a decree of the mayor relating to certain additional restrictions to the ministerial decree of July 24, 2020 was published. In order to fight against the spread of Covid-19, three new measures have come into force until August 31, 2020 in the territory of Comines-Warneton.

Cafés and restaurants, including terraces, close at 11:00 p.m., instead of 1:00 a.m. Outside of Horeca establishments (night shop, tobacco shop, etc.), the sale of fermented drinks and / or spirits (to take away or to consume on site, in any quantity and in any form whatsoever) is prohibited between 8 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Provisions relating to the wearing of a mask have also been taken. Axes are divided into a red zone, within which wearing a mask is compulsory, and an orange zone, where wearing a mask becomes compulsory if social distancing cannot be respected. Posters were put up in the sectors concerned. In addition, aerial banners have been added in the red areas.

The town borders with France, near the Nord department, placed in the orange zone according to the Belgian authorities.
