After setting up a petition to protest against this decision of the La Poste group, the City of Villejuif handed it over to him personally.
1000 petitioners
As a reminder, La Poste endorsed his intention to close several post offices in the department: this is the case in Ivry-sur-Seine, Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, Vincennes and Villejuif. A decision deplored by these municipalities, which in their vast majority have set up demonstrations and petitions to protest against this decision.
On October 1, the councilor, Pierre Garzon (PCF), took advantage of the launch of a stamp bearing the effigy of Gustave Roussy to address the subject with the representatives of the La Poste group present. “If I am happy to be there today for the honor of Gustave Roussy and the Institute, I regret that this is in a context of reduction of the postal service in our city”, he said. he declares. He handed over the signatures with the departmental councilor Flore Munck (PCF).
According to the latter, more than 1,000 people have signed the City’s petition. The departmental councilor recalled the “essential character of this office in the life of the district in the lower Villejuif and expressed the requests of the inhabitants, namely, the renovation of the premises, the extension of the opening hours and the diversification of the services offered. in this office ”.
Pierre Garzon, for his part, confided to Actu Val-de-Marne: “It is a 30-year-old office, and not one euro of investment has been made since it opened”. The mayor specified that the constitution of a “collective” to defend the site was under consideration.
