Close the Strasbourg Parliament during the energy crisis? France says no!

It is a sea snake that regularly comes to the surface in the European debate: according to the treaties governing the functioning of the European Union (EU), the plenary sessions of the European Parliament are held in Strasbourg, but all the preliminary work of the deputies takes place in Brussels, where the standing committees sit. The community organization therefore plans to keep two offices open and to move hundreds, even more than a thousand people, every month between the Belgian capital and the Alsatian metropolis.

An absurdity in terms of energy expenditure and environmental impact according to some, even more so with the impending energy crisis. For this reason, the German MEP Peter Liese (CDU) has decided to question the subject again.

“If everyone is asked to save energy, they are not responsible.
