SuaraBekaci.id – Climate change which is getting worse Earth increase dim. This special study by scientists at the Big Bear Solar Observatory, Southern California, examines Earth’s light or earthshine, which is none other than the light emitted by Earth to the surface of the dark side of the Moon.

Researchers there have been studying earthshine since 1998. The data analyzed was until 2017 only.

In addition, the researchers also used data from the Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES) project belonging to the United States space agency (NASA) which was held since 1997.

CERES derives data from a large number of devices and sensors embedded in satellites belonging to NASA and NOAA, the monitoring agency. climate and the US atmosphere.

The two groups of data were analyzed to see if there was a change in Earth’s light and if there was, how big the change was, Live Science reported last weekend.

The results found that, over 20 years, the amount of light emitted by Earth fell by about 0.5 percent. This amount is equivalent to 0.5 watts of light per square meter.

Most of those changes were tracked in the last three years, up to 2017. Meanwhile, from CERES data, which was collected up to 2019, it was found that Earth’s light was greatly reduced.

To be more certain, scientists are also examining changes in the Sun’s light. They found that for two decades, there was no significant effect of solar activity on the dimming of Earth’s light.

Therefore scientists believe that the dimming of Earth’s light must come from the Blue Planet’s internal factors.

Earth, as a planet, does not produce its own light but only reflects sunlight. However, structures on Earth differ in how they reflect sunlight.
