ROSARITO- Authorities indicated that they do not have the means to patrol the entire coast and prevent clandestine vessels from leaving, and merchants in Puerto Nuevo fear that the tourist area will be used to smuggle people from Mexico to the United States.
As it happened in the case of this weekend where a ship wrecked off the coast of San Diego, killing at least three people.
“If we are concerned, because as it is a restaurant area,” said Daniel Andrade, a merchant for 40 years who has lived in the Puerto Nuevo area.
He works bringing water and ice to shops, and said that after learning about the shipwreck, he fears that the tourist perspective of Puerto Nuevo will change.
“That has always been the desire of Puerto Nuevo that all the people who come here to Puerto Nuevo feel safe,” said Andrade.
However, businessmen who live in Rosarito, assured a lamentable panorama of the history of its coasts, it is the use of them for human trafficking.

“It’s sad, we really have many years that this has happened, they arrive from some parts of southern Mexico or Central America, they arrive here that is closer and they pass them by sea,” said Gustavo Torres, a businessman in the coastal area of Rosarito.

“It is very worrying that both in Puerto Nuevo, as we know in Popotla, it is also used for this type of service, it can be called that, services of taking people there and other types of things that are not people,” said Torres.
The security secretariat confirmed to TELEMUNDO 20 that the beaches of Rosarito are usually used by criminals for the transit of people, as was recorded on March 25, when a boat with 16 people on board crashed in the tourist area of Primo Wall.

“They are emigrating to more remote areas, more alone that it is easier to get ahead,” said Francisco Javier Arellano, secretary of public security in Playas de Rosarito.
The authorities assured that due to the size of the ship that wrecked, they were sure that it did not leave from Popotla.
“And now they are leaving from other points, the last three boats that were discovered did not leave Popotla, they left a little further back,” Arellano said.

So the businessmen asked that work be done closely, to prevent crime from reaching more areas of the city.
“Making the situation worse in every way, because they are covering more tourist and non-tourist areas,” Torres said.
Although the public security secretariat assured that it was difficult to patrol in areas of the coast as low as this in Puerto Nuevo, it assured that the patrols on the site and attention and army checkpoints on the free highway, hope they work as an inhibitor of the traffic of people on the site.
