Cirque du Soleil's Kurios Premieres with Star-Studded Red Carpet Event in Knokke-Heist

BVThe world famous Cirque du Soleil has again pitched its big tent in our country after six years. The premiere of Kurios, their impressive steampunk spectacle full of acrobatics, music and humour, took place in Knokke-Heist on Thursday evening. And that promising mix lured many famous people to the red carpet where – for the sake of safety – they did not do any breakneck tricks, but showed their best side.

Kurios is set in an alternate but familiar past, in the mechanical lab of a Vorser convinced that a hidden, unseen world exists – a place where the craziest ideas and the biggest dreams await. Once the Vorser manages to open the door to this world of wonders, time comes to a complete standstill and a cheerful cast of alien characters invade his curio cabinet, bringing his improvised creations to life one by one. As the visible becomes invisible and the perspectives change, Kurios erupts in a celebration of power and imagination.

The performance is a dizzying escape from reality. Kurios is a stunning spectacle, revealing a celebratory, steampunk-inspired universe where the unexpected lurks behind every corner. Spectators can expect a mix of breakneck acrobatics with a refreshing touch of poetry, beautiful music and the necessary humor. Since its world premiere in Montréal in 2014, Kurios has been performed more than 2,000 times in 30 cities. More than 4.5 million spectators admired the spectacle. 50 acrobats, actors, musicians and singers from 17 countries take part in the production.

Cirque du Soleil’s Kurios will play in Knokke-Heist until August 27. The tent show can be seen in Brussels from 7 September – cirquedusoleil.com.

Radio2 voice Peter Van de Veire made it a family outing with his wife Ilse and their son Lex.

And his daughter Jitske Van de Veire was also there. She poses at the side of her fiancé Dym.

Marc Coucke came to Knokke with his wife Nathalie.

“I only do acrobatics in the bedroom,” jokes Lesley-Ann Poppe alongside her husband Kevin.

Thanks to ‘Blind Married’, Jana and Dziubi became good friends and so they attended the premiere of Kurios together. She is very happy with her new partner, he is still single after the break with Brecht. “My head is not on dating.”

Winnie and Jonah, who gave each other their yes in 2020 in ‘Blind Married’, made it a date night without their daughter Lily.

Lize Feryn prefers the premiere of Cirque du Soleil to her partner Aster Nzeyimana’s debut as a football commentator at VTM. “I will watch it postponed,” the actress winks at the side of her uncle and niece.

“I hope to see a lot of beautiful and flexible bodies,” says Charlotte Timmers, who was out with mom Annemie.

“The pregnancy is still going according to plan,” says Tom and Kato of The Starlings.

Three Miss Belgiums in a row: Annelies Törös (2015), Chayenne Van Aarle (2022) and Emilie Vansteenkiste (2023). Annelies works in PR, Chayenne – who is still single and still suffers from a cracked vertebra after her car accident – is finding her way in the artistic world.

Q-DJ Maureen Vanherberghen and colleague Lore are in Ostend in front of the Q-BeachHouse. “We had a free evening and we wanted to see this spectacle.

Apollonia Sterckx came to Knokke with her mother Victoria. “I am not allowed to do acrobatic tricks, because if I break something, they will have a big problem at Home,” says the actress. “And my storyline is going to be a lot bigger this fall. With fun and exciting things.”

Koen Crucke was present with husband Jan. “We are going to sit on the edge of our seats again.”

“I’m a stuntman myself, so this show is really up my alley,” says ‘De Buurtpolitie’ actor Tim Ost with his fiancé Celien next to him.

“It is with a small heart to watch the daring acts of these artists,” says Danni Heylen, who brought along good friend and fellow actor Jeroen Maes.

Soundman Pascal Braeckman was back in the country just in time for Cirque du Soleil after he had to play in France for the new season of ‘De Planckaert’s.

Romeo singer Chris Van Tongelen took his girlfriend Annelies with him.
