Cinemas in the district – the bad weather helps – Erding

The cinemas in the district have been open again for some time, and the cinema operators are very satisfied with the large number of visitors. “Our halls are very well filled. From 3 p.m. they are always fully occupied,” says Karin Glück, the press spokeswoman for the Cineplex Erding. In the long term, however, the operation in this form is not sustainable, after all, seats in front of, next to and behind the guests in the cinema must always be empty. So a maximum of only 40 percent of the places can be occupied. The Cineplex in Erding has been open again since July 1st, as have hundreds of cinemas in Germany.

In terms of ticket sales, July 2021 is quite comparable to July 2019. “That is more than we expected,” said Glück happily. In addition to the desire of the visitors to experience the cinema, the rainy weather is also a reason for the current popularity. Although many employees stayed and some came back, the cinema is urgently looking for new staff.

In the summer of 2020, the cinema started only with old films, so the interest of the visitors was correspondingly small at the time. The Cineplex started this summer with 25 new films. There is also a new film every week. Every genre is covered, from children’s films to horror films. In addition to the crowd pullers “Weissbier im Blut” and “Fast & Furious 9”, the rest of the program is also very popular. The other two Cineplex cinemas run by the Fläxl family in Vilsbiburg and Neufahrn are just as well attended.

The s’Kino in Jakobmayr in Dorfen has been open again since May 20th. “The opening of the other cinemas on July 1st didn’t bring us any hype,” says Georg Schmederer, the operator and managing director of the s’Kino. “Despite the circumstances, we are very satisfied.” The new film by nature filmmaker Jan Haft from Dorfen, “Heimat Natur”, was well received. From August 5th, the “Kaiserschmarrndrama” will run in Jakobmayer, the seventh part of the Eberhofer crime series. The Eberhofer films, along with the films by Jan Haft from Dorfen, are the works with the greatest audience for the small cinema in Dorfen. For the fall, Schmederer does not expect any easing of the cinema operations. He is happy when no new restrictions come into force.

“The cinema release went very well for me, I’m very satisfied,” says Andreas vom Hofe, who runs the cinema café in Taufkirchen. He waited for the end of the European Football Championship to reopen his cinema on July 15th. His program, which stretches between art house and the valuable mainstream, as he says, is running successfully. As in the Cineplex, “Weissbier im Blut” is also a success in the cinema café. The cinema café is open five days a week, now it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Von Hofe is still cautious when planning concerts, readings or lectures in the cinema. “Summer is not a good time for events,” he says, “the season starts in autumn”. In all cinemas, visitors adhere to the guidelines in an exemplary manner, as the operators insure. In the cinema there is also a mask requirement during the performance, and you have to register for contact tracking. To avoid waiting times, the Cineplex recommends booking tickets online.
