Chronology of the beating of the Metro Jaya Police Siber Team by the foreigners at Green Park View Apartment

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – A group of foreign nationals (foreigners) suspected of coming from Nigeria gang up on five members of the Metro Jaya Cyber ​​Police team at Green Park View Apartment, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, Saturday (6/27/2020).

Head of Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Kombes Yusri Yunus said the incident beatings it began when 12 cyber team personnel went to the scene to arrest a Nigerian citizen for alleged criminal fraud online.

When cyber team personnel were about to enter the apartment area, one of the residents suspected of being a Nigerian citizen shouted and spread rumors of a raid carried out by the Directorate General of Immigration.

“There was one apartment resident, suspected to be a Nigerian citizen who shouted that there was a raid of foreign nationals from the Immigration side. Shortly afterwards a group of foreigners, allegedly a Nigerian citizen, suddenly opposed the police,” Yusri said in his statement on Sunday (6/28/2020 ).

Yusri estimated that as many as 60 residents were thought to be from Nigeria who had ganged up on five cyber team personnel. When attacked, the police still tried to explain the purpose of their arrival.

“Members have said that they are members of the police force but are still resisting, causing a commotion until the beating,” Yusri said.

As a result of the attack, five cyber team personnel suffered minor injuries. The attack can be stopped with the help of West Jakarta Police Resmob personnel and Cengkareng Sector Police.

Furthermore, as many as 11 Nigerian citizens suspected of being involved in the beatings were arrested by the police.

Nevertheless, Yusri did not reveal the identity of Nigerian citizens and the motives for the beatings.

“We are coordinating with the Immigration Service to be detected and handled by the Immigration Service,” Yusri said.
