Chronology of Police Stabbed by Motorcycle Gang Members in Cianjur Page all

CIANJUR, KOMPAS.com – Briptu NA (26) who is a member of the Police Sabhara Unit Cianjur, West Java, became a victim of stabbing.

The victim was stabbed by a motorcycle gang member while helping to manage traffic congestion at the Gentur Light Monument roundabout, Cianjur, Sunday (16/8/2020).

The perpetrator with the initials LL (26) was successfully arrested at his rented house in the Karangtengah area, Cianjur, Monday (17/8/2020) in the morning.

The tattooed man has been named a suspect.

Head of the Cianjur Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Anton, said that the incident of this persecution of the police on duty occurred amidst a busy situation.

“At that time there was a traffic jam in the roundabout area, as a result of the closure of the Puncak lane. Members were then deployed there to help regulate traffic,” Anton said to Kompas.com, Monday (17/8/2020).

According to Anton, when the members were controlling the traffic, from the direction of the by-pass, a convoy of 1-2 motorbikes arrived, totaling 60 vehicles.

They were about to cross the roundabout.

However, the police saw several people from the motorbike gang acting up by disturbing traffic order.

“The officers at the location then put them in order by stopping the convoy of vehicles,” said Anton.

However, the policy’s firm step was to get a match.

Even one of the motorcyclists immediately fired a sharp weapon.

As a result, a police officer, namely Biptu NA, was injured in the head.

“This perpetrator admitted that he heard screams from the front, if the convoy got in the way. Because he was under the influence of alcohol, just flew his machete at the officer,” said Anton.

After stabbing the police, the perpetrator and his gang fled by turning around.

Meanwhile, the victim who had a torn head was immediately rushed to the hospital by fellow police officers for medical treatment.

“After the incident, we have secured 21 people from two different groups. However, we intensify the examination on 4 people, one has been named as a suspect, the rest is a witness,” said Anton.

The suspect is charged with multiple articles, namely Article 351 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code concerning persecution; and Article 2 paragraph 1 of Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951.

“The punishment is 5 years and 10 years in prison. There will be an additional article, because this perpetrator is a recidivist for the same case and has also been involved in violent theft cases, “said Anton.
