Christopher Street Day in Dresden: A Colorful Parade for Diversity and Equality

Thousands of people gathered on Saturday for the Christopher Street Day (CSD) party and demonstration in Dresden. The colorful procession moved nine kilometers from the Terrassenufer through the Saxon state capital. The parade advocated respect for the different ways of life.

The event was opened by Equal Opportunities Minister Katja Meier and the patron of the CSD – Lord Mayor Dirk Hilbert. Due to the large circular route of the parade, there are massive traffic restrictions in Dresden city centre. Local public transport is also affected.

The CSD was held in Dresden for the 30th time. The motto was “100 percent human – no ifs or buts!”. In Leipzig, the CSD will be celebrated in the week starting July 7th, the demonstration is planned in the trade fair city on July 15th.
