Christina Applegate, popularly known for her role in “Married… With Children,” recently spoke about her battle with multiple sclerosis during an interview on “Good Morning America.” The 52-years-old Applegate revealed that she lives a challenging life due to the debilitating effects of the disease. However, she expressed her gratitude for the support she receives.
Emmys Appearance and Overwhelm
At the Emmys in January, Applegate, with her distinct sense of humor, joked about her appearance while battling multiple sclerosis. She revealed that she blacked out and had no recollection of her actions or words during the event. The “Sweetest Thing” star humorously recounted her feelings of being overwhelmed during the standing ovation she received, expressing a sense of being beloved by the audience.
New Podcast with Jamie-Lynn Sigler
Applegate’s upcoming interview with the “Good Morning America” host Robin Roberts aims to shed light on her experiences with multiple sclerosis. Moreover, she and fellow actor Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who has also battled multiple sclerosis since the age of 20, are launching a podcast called “MeSsy,” where they will share their personal experiences dealing with the autoimmune disorder.
Applegate’s Journey and Future Plans
In 2021, Applegate announced her diagnosis with multiple sclerosis. The January Emmy Awards marked a significant event for her, as it may be her last appearance as an actor. Feeling uncertain about her capability to endure the demanding nature of the film industry due to her disease, Applegate expressed her gratefulness for her role in the Netflix comedy “Dead to Me,” which concluded its third and final season. Her character, Jen Harding, on the show might be her last.
Applegate’s battle with multiple sclerosis led to a reduction in her public appearances. However, she explained that her diagnosis has been a gift, which she cherishes, despite the challenges it entails. Applegate shared her hope for the podcast and her enthusiasm to connect with her audience, along with Sigler’s support.
