Christian Benteke did his mea culpa on Wednesday evening. The 29-year-old Crystal Palace forward was sent off after the meeting with Aston Villa after an incident with another player, which brought his season to an early end.
“I want Crystal Palace fans to know that I am the first to criticize myself when things are not going well,” Benteke wrote on Twitter. “I felt I was coming back well and being the old Benteke again before and after the lockdown, but I wasted my season with this red card. As always, I will try to improve myself and do my best for it. club.”
Benteke has scored two goals in 24 league games this season. Palace ranked 14th in the Premier League.
